Industry Visit At BESCO LIMITED WAGON DIVISION On 24th May 2025

On 24th May 2025, the MBA students had the opportunity to visit BESCO Ltd. – Wagon Division, located in Baruipur. With a legacy dating back to 1928, BESCO is a distinguished name in the manufacturing of railway wagons and coaches, contributing significantly to the development of India’s railway infrastructure through continuous innovation.

The visit was guided by Dr, Bhaswati Bhattacharya and Prof Ratul Kayal . During their industrial tour, students gained valuable insights from Mr Arunava Chatterjee (VP , Manufacturing) , Mr. Sanjoy Paul and Kunal Mukherjee about the comprehensive wagon manufacturing process—ranging from the procurement of raw materials to the final stages of assembly. In addition to the technical aspects, the students were also introduced to crucial practices related to safety and security management, waste disposal technique , and compliance procedures within the manufacturing environment.

Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurship/Startups on 6th May, 2025

Life at Future...!

An engaging session on "Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurship/Startups" for MBA students was conducted by Mr. Niraj Agarwal, Founder & CEO, Cyberyog Technologies on the 6th May 2025 at Future Institute of Engineering and Management. Mr. Agarwal, a Jadavpur University alumnus and a cybersecurity expert has 20+ yrs of experience behind him with a long association with PwC. The session focused on the steps leading to a successful entrepreneurship. Mr. Agarwal shared practical insights into building a start up through real-life examples and interactive discussion helping the students gain an understanding of how startups can create an impact.

Industry visit on 3rd May, 2025

Life at Future...!

On a bright and engaging day on 3 rd May,2025 our MBA students embarked on an industry visit to an AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) block manufacturing unit in Rashmi Group(Orissa Metaliks Pvt Ltd.), Khragpur. This visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the production processes, technology, and operational aspects of one of the most innovative building materials in the construction industry. The hospitality shown towards the students and faculty members was fascinating by the officers of the Plant. The noticeable part was this well planned industry visit was conducted by the company with the leadership of top level managers. The primary objectives of the visit were to understand the manufacturing process of AAC blocks, gain insights into supply chain management, logistics and Procurement Strategies, Techniques used to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce holding costs. and explore market trends and the demand for AAC blocks in the construction sector. Students have enjoyed the visit to the fullest and learned a lot of things with their exposure to a real industry working environment. This firsthand exposure not only enriched their theoretical knowledge but also sparked interest in potential careers in this innovative field. The day concluded with a sense of motivation and curiosity about the future of sustainable construction practices.

Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Business Management: Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Innovation

The Department of Business Administration, FIEM, successfully organized a webinar on 10th December 2024 at 2:30 PM on the topic “Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Business Management: Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Innovation.” The session was conducted by Dr. GülErkol Bayram, Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at Sinop University, Department of Tour Guiding, Turkey.

The webinar provided valuable insights into the practical applications of AI in business management, focusing on optimizing decision-making, improving operational efficiency, and driving innovation across various business functions. Dr. Bayram also discussed strategic approaches to integrating AI responsibly to ensure long-term sustainability and gain a competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving business environment.

The session was highly engaging and enriched the participants’ understanding of how AI can transform business practices for future growth and innovation.

Calcutta Management Association(CMA),one of the oldest management associations of the country, for the first time is organizing Eastern India’s one of the biggest SME Excellence Awards 2023 along with DFO MSME, Govt of India, Kolkata to recognize and facilitate the ambassadors of Manufacturing & Services Sectors where SME’s from 10 eastern states of India( namely West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura ) will show their power as “Karmdata” and amongst them the top 3 best performing MSME’s will be awarded in each category. This seminar helped students to get insight on: Challenges and Opportunities for MSMEs in Eastern India, Innovations in Technology and Marketing for MSMEs, Access to Finance and Funding Support by Banks & NBFCs, and Support Skill Development and Capacity Building for empowering MSMEs in digital excellence

Through this webinar students learnt about how individual behaviors influence overall safety performance in project environments. They will also understand the importance of cultivating a proactive safety culture through observation, feedback, and positive reinforcement to minimize risks and ensure workplace well-being.

The Department of Business Administration has organized an offline seminar on the "Mental Health" in collaboration with Bravetalk and the Institution's Innovation Council of FIEM on April 9, 2024, for the students of Future Institute of Engineering and Management and Future Business School.Participants attended a session focused on mental health, where they explored various factors affecting mental health across different age groups. They gained valuable insights into techniques for managing their personal mental health. The speaker addressed common misconceptions about mental health and highlighted the issue of individuals seeking advice from peers who are not mental health experts, which often exacerbates their problems rather than resolving them.

BBA 6th Semester Students' Excursion to Pabong

the final-year BBA students of Future Business School, embarked on an enriching excursion to Pabong, a serene village in Kalimpong, known for its breathtaking landscapes and tranquil atmosphere. Accompanied by faculty members, the trip aimed to provide students with a blend of adventure, relaxation, and practical learning.Upon arrival, the group explored the pristine surroundings of Pabong, trekking through forest trails and soaking in the panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range. The visit also included interactions with local residents, where students learned about rural tourism, sustainable business practices, and eco-tourism opportunities—valuable insights relevant to their academic curriculum.

Beyond learning, the trip was filled with team-building activities, bonfires, and cultural exchanges, strengthening the bond among students and faculty. The excursion concluded on a high note, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for nature and community-based tourism.

Wow Foodies

Wow Foodies, the much awaited management event , organised by MBA department of Future Institute of Engineering & Management epitomize the entrepreneurial spirit of culinary exploration igniting the taste buds. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mousumi Ghosh (Founder Director ) and Dr. Aloke Kr. Ghosh ( Executive Director ) of the college. Like every year, planning & preparation of Wow Foodies was initiated weeks back. There wer 9 stalls each representing different gastronomic variety like lip smacking snacks, assorted drinks, Indian lunch combo, Italian delicacies, varieties of desserts and many more. What defines Wow Foodies is its learning experience for the MBA students. They were given the opportunity to initiate an actual business for a day, where planning, marketing and sales promotion, projected cost & profit, competitive pricing all hooks and nooks of business need to be taken care of by the first-year students under the able guidance of 2nd year students. It will end with a project report and presentation and will be prized accordingly.

BBA 2nd semester Industrial Visit

A one-day industrial visit was organized for the BBA 4th Semester students on 15th May 2024 to PATTON, a leading manufacturer of electrical and infrastructure products in Eastern India. The objective of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world industrial practices. During the visit, students were given a guided tour of the manufacturing facility where they observed various stages of production, including raw material handling, fabrication, assembly, and quality control processes. The company representatives provided valuable insights into the operational strategies, supply chain management, quality assurance techniques, and safety standards maintained by the organization. The interaction with the production team and managerial staff helped the students understand the practical implementation of business concepts such as lean manufacturing, inventory control, and industrial safety. The visit also highlighted PATTON’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and employee welfare.

MBA 2nd semester Industrial Visit

Industrial visit plays a crucial role in management education. Students of MBA first year of Future Institute of Engineering and Management, Sonarpur, visited the manufacturing unit of Ambey Boards located at Howrah .Today, plywood is widely used in construction and has become a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide. The visit took them through a diverse array of departments encompassing both manufacturing and processing sections. The visit provides students a practical exposure to different machining processes, materials handling equipment and more over the production process of plywood. Students also experienced the working environment of plywood industries and gained knowledge over supply chain management which helped them to gain insights into real-world business practices. Upon their return to their campus, the students brought back not only a refreshed perspective but also a deeper comprehension of their academic endeavors. Their interactions with industry professionals enriched them with invaluable insights, fostering a plethora of learning experiences and cherished memories that will endure indefinitely.

The students of Bachelopr of business administration visited BESCO Ltd. , the Wagon Division in Baruipur (renowned manufacturer of railway wagons and coaches , with a rich history dating back to 1928 and playing a pivotal role in shaping India's railway infrastructure). Students were accompanied by Prof. Somiron Mukherjee & Prof. Sanchita Bose. During the visit, they had the privilege of witnessing the intricate process of railway wagon manufacturing, from raw material procurement to final assembling.However, beyond the manufacturing process they also learned about safety and security management.
